what people are saying about The Assassin

If you haven’t read this novel you need to go and buy it now. I’m not saying that because Laura is one of my friends but because this novel is ridiculously great. I loved how the suspense and engagement from this novel created a bubble that I didn’t want to leave.

First things first, I freaking love badass, rebellious woman. I feel strongly about a woman who knows and gets what she wants and Cassie does exactly that. She doesn’t allow the constraints of the FBI to stop her in her beliefs and actions throughout the novel. She is a brilliant character and honestly I cannot wait for the next installment.
Anders was a brilliant character. He seemed so mysterious and his chemistry with Cassie was off the charts. I loved how even though he was her mission she shot him in the leg and then ends up working with him to bring in another bad guy.
Overall this novel was fast-paced and had high stakes which keep you on the edge of your seat. Definitely pick this up if you’re looking for a decent crime novel with a female twist.

This highly suspenseful and surprisingly engaging debut novel is one you don’t want to miss.

The Assassin is a fresh and exciting take on classic crime fiction. Neither femme fatale nor damsel in distress, FBI agent Cassie Morgan is the quick-witted, down-to-earth protagonist crime fiction has been waiting for.

Cassie’s passion for her career finds her in a precarious situation. With an FBI-trained criminal to surveil and a serial killer on her heels, Cassie walks a fine line between using her unique skills and perspective for good and foolishly putting her own life at risk. This begs the question, “Can she catch a criminal and still leave with her life intact?”

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, high-stakes crime novel that stands out for all the right reasons, The Assassin is the book for you. With such a shining debut novel, author Laura Teagan puts herself firmly on the indie radar. I definitely look forward to following her career.

double played

Six months after Cassie Morgan faced The Assassin, it’s time for her to get back to work. After a break from the FBI, Cassie arrives to find her first assignment: the death of her former informant, Maria Floures.

In order to bring justice to Floures, Cassie is assigned to work with a group of DEA agents investigating a drug ring that has ties to Floures and the man suggested of murdering her. One of those DEA agents is Seth Edwards, a man who recently stood Cassie up on a blind date.

While she tries to ignore the tension between her and Seth, the two must work closely together when Seth goes undercover to infiltrate the drug group tied to Floures. Once he’s in, Cassie realizes that this group may be connected to more than just Floures. As they peel back the structure of the drug ring, Cassie realizes a figure from her past is at the head of it, and Cassie may have just been double played.
