October Goals

If I did my math right, I have thirty-five days until the election, though it’s quite possible I didn’t do the math right. I mean, I did fail math in college the first time around, so I make no claims to doing it correctly. Either way, the next thirty-five days are going to be insane.
October Goals
The other day I heard Taylor Swift’s “22” on in a store, and when I was listening to the words, I realized just how true she was. Especially the line about being “happy, free, confused, and lonely” all at once.
Thinking about the past few months, and just this year in general, my life has never been more chaotic, busy, insane, insert any word you want about life, and I know maybe ten people in this town outside of work (and two of them are my grandparents), but I don’t really feel lonely, and my depression has never been in better shape.
For a girl who swore she would never move to Austin, I really don’t know too much about my own life, right? In a year, I went from “I will never move to Austin” to “I could see myself being here for a long time.”
Talk about a 180.
But at the same time, man have I completely been failing at these goals. I think I’m going to start printing them and leaving them in different places, in my desk at home, in my Day Designer, in my desk at work, hell maybe even in my car.
My goals have been things I’ve laid out at the beginning of the month, and then I mainly get them accomplished simply on accident, not by design. This month, that changes.
So what was I up to in September?

WORK

-End of quarter fundraising, seems like I just finished that for the last quarter, and here were are again!

THE BOOK

-start rewrites on Justice & Lies

THE BLOG

-keep working on posts so I get ahead in time for the Election Day (ideally, I’d love to have all  of those done by the end of the month. I have a feeling I’ll have a lot more time once I move).
launch my first email e-course (fingers crossed for next week!)
-continue moving Ginger & Books to Ginger & Co.

LIFE

-MOVE. TOMORROW. And Saturday
-Get settled into my new apartment – I’d say half on this. I still need to get stuff out of my grandparents’ house.
-start going on bike rides – y’all, I didn’t even bring my bike to Austin.
-purge my closet, after I combine them all – I need to purge it again.

All right, what’s on the agenda for October?

October Goals

WORK

-Get all my fundraising emails for the month written in the first week of work
-Survive Early Voting
-Create a social media schedule for Election Day and get it approved
-Allow myself to take a step back when I get overwhelmed. If I don’t, I know I’m more prone to making mistakes, and I can’t afford those right now

THE BOOK

-Finish outlining the new draft of Justice & Lies
Just get 10,000 words of the new draft done this month. Writing time is tight and this feels like a much bigger goal than it should be (says the girl who did that many words in a day earlier this year)

THE BLOG

-Get ahead on blog posts. I need to have all the posts between now and Election Day done by the middle of the month.
-Brainstorm some newsletter ideas, I’m always coming up with those at the last minute!

LIFE

-Get my nails done for the wedding I’m going to this weekend (I promise you, this is a much bigger deal that you think – I’m notorious for having bad nails)
-Go to the wedding
-Visit family and friends while I’m up in DFW for the wedding
-Save some money (I’ve had moving costs, two flat tires in the past month and a half, and now I have to probably spend $400 to fix my four-month old laptop – my wallet is hurting)
-Purge my closet again
-Get my stuff out of my grandparents’ house, finally
I think that’s it. That’s actually a lot more than I anticipated when I started this post, so that’s gotta count for something, right? October is going to go by so fast – just cause that’s how life works, right? But at this same time, thirty-five days feels like a lifetime!
So, until next month, what are you planning to accomplish in October?
