Be Bold in 2016 // Health Goals
It’s time for the third week of the Be Bold link up. This week we’re talking about health goals.
I think it was the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012 when I was diagnosed with my thyroid disease. But last year was the first year that I really felt the effects of having an autoimmune disease on my life. Before that, I never even considered that it could be something that really affected my day-to-day routine. I mean, it’s supposed to be as easy as taking some medicine and going on with life, right?
Haha, nope.
Last summer when I really had to face my thyroid disease, I went through some dark stuff. I hate making excuses for myself, and a lot of times, my thyroid disease feels like nothing but an excuse.
So I feel like 2016 will be as big of a mental health year as it is a health year.
Healthwise, I’d like to get back to going. I went once this week, and that was the first time I had gone to the gym since I found out I had a hairline fracture in August.
It felt nice, but I know I need to keep going. I want more emphasis on the weights, not just doing the motions of the ellipticals every day. I want to cut my soda consumption way down. The water supply in my school’s town was not good at all, so I drank a lot of soda. Now that I’m home, I’m noticing I drink a lot more water. Here’s to hoping I can make that transition.
Mentally, I just want to continue to grow. This year is going to be a year with some of the biggest changes in my life, and I want to continue to strengthen myself mentally so I can be prepared for whatever life brings – jobs, moving, anything.
I don’t expect major changes in my health this year, but I want to focus on the smaller things that can all build up to a much bigger, greater change.
What are your health goals for this year?
