Be Bold in 2016 // Word of the Year
I’m so excited to be linking up with some fabulous ladies for the Be Bold in 2016 series. Today is the first day of the link up (it’ll be today and the next three Fridays), and we’re discussing word of the year.
For a long time, I thought my word was going to be “patience.” Patience with my job search, with my books, with myself. But something about patience just feels so…. passive to me, even though I have to work to have patience with myself.
And I felt like the reasons I thought of patience were things that wouldn’t be throughout the year. I’ll be done with this book during the year, and I hope I don’t spend all year looking for a job. While I still believe “patience” is a good thought to have throughout the year, I went with a different word.
Prosperity: “a successful, flourishing, or thriving condition, especially in financial respects; good fortune.”
Well I don’t know how much flourishing I’ll have in a financial respect (hello student loan payments), I want to flourish in what I do. Whether that’s a new job, publishing books, or something I don’t even see on my radar right now, I want to prosper in it.
I want to prosper in my faith and religion, especially. I worked for the Catholic Church for two years, and while I absolutely loved it, I’m in a different place now, being back at home. I want a personal revival, in a way.
And, even if I fail at whatever I do in life this year, I want prosperity in the lessons I learn from failing. I want to prosper in the every day.

Prosperity speaks so much to me! I can definitely relate to what you mean about setting patience as your word. I think patience is something to learn in many cases, but can also lead to learning about other things as well. I love your take on this, and I’m wishing you all the best with prospering in all the new things coming your way! Prosperity is a really great word choice, and I love your take on it! I too thought a lot about going with patience this year, but it does seem like such a passive choice, especially since for me it seems like something I need to work on almost every year. I hope you have an amazing year, and I wish you tons of prosperity in all your endeavors.
