December Goals

Looking back at the past thirty days, I’ve been reminded that life never truly goes the way we plan. What I thought would be a month of calming down turned out to be a nosedive to nothingness.
Sometimes we plan for things to happen. Like a job to continue after the election, only to find out that it didn’t. While I was shocked at first and worried, the truth is, it quickly proved to be something that was probably for the best. I definitely wish my former company and everyone there the best, but politics isn’t where my heart is.
December Goals
I’ve realized that really what I want in life is to just write. If my books made more money and I didn’t need a job, I’d have my whole life’s dream figured out at 23. A little ambitious, yes, but I’ve always had a little bit of an ambitious side to me.
Now that it’s December, it’s a fresh page, and it’s time to really turn the wheels around. After the election, I gave myself a little bit of time to do things like birthdays and holidays and NaNoWriMo. Since two of those things are done, it’s time to put my head down and get back to work.
I’m feeling hopeful for December, compared to November, where I entered it with anxiety. The only thing I have anxiety over now is my bank account, but I always anxiety over that.
Either way, the past is in the past, so it’s time to look back and see what I did accomplish and what I’m looking to accomplish next month.

WORK:

-Survive Election Day
-Figure out what happens after the election

THE BOOK:

-finish outline for Justice & Lies
Do an abbreviated version of NaNoWriMo and get 30,000 words done on this darn book – after the election
-finalize the cover for Justice & Lies
CELEBRATE ONE YEAR OF BEING PUBLISHED (except book birthday is also Election Day)

THE BLOG:

-Keep plugging along on blog posts
-Start planning out for 2017. I have a lot of ideas, but I need to figure out what is the best plan of action.
-Brainstorm some more newsletter ideas. Cause I’m the worst.

LIFE:

-Enjoy your damn birthday, Laura
-Keep saving money. Life is expensive.
-Enjoy your time with family

Well, I found out very well what happened after Election Day. It was definitely not what I was expecting, but like I said before, I’m okay with it. But on the plus side, I won NaNoWriMo yesterday. I didn’t think I would get 30,000 words, but I won the whole thing. That’s actually the first time I’ve won.
So November was a month that I would have never imagined for myself. But the nice thing is, I can make December whatever I want it to be, right?
