Five Minute Microwave Brownie Recipe
I’m so excited to introduce the first contributor here at Ginger + Co. Ashley is the blogger behind Hello Nature and also owns the awesome skin care shop, The Gnarly Whale. I’m so happy to have her sharing some easy recipes with us (easy enough that I should be able to do these)!
I am a sucker for easy desserts. I love to bake and cook, but I don’t like recipes that require crazy steps or a ton of ingredients. And this recipe? It’s a delicious combination of ease and minimalism for ingredients and dishes – especially for those that don’t have access to or want to use their oven. This five minute microwave brownie recipe is perfect to split with a loved one or if you’re looking to indulge on your own!
For the container, you can use a coffee mug, ramekin, small glass bowl – essentially anything that’s about the size of a mug and is microwavable works for this recipe!
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp Butter
- 2 Tbsp Skim Milk
- 1/4 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Flour
- 2 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2 Tbsp Walnuts
Directions
- Soften the butter in your mug/dish in the microwave (I microwaved it for 30 seconds in our microwave)
- Add in the milk and vanilla extract, then mix thoroughly.
- Add in the salt and both sugars, then mix thoroughly.
- Add in the flour and cocoa powder, then mix thoroughly.
- Add in the walnuts and again, mix thoroughly.
- Warm up in the microwave for 60 – 80 seconds (I microwaved it for 70 seconds in a 1000 watt microwave)
Be very careful to not overcook this as it will be very dry if you do. Test it with a toothpick if you’d like by sticking one in the middle and if it comes out clean, it’s done. If it’s not clean, try for 5-10 seconds at a time to ensure that you don’t overcook it.
Add there are a ton of variations you can do with this recipe! Skip the nuts, add different nuts, add coconut, add a little bit of peanut butter, etc.
Enjoy!
