For the Love of Books: September 2019

For as much time as I spent not writing in September, I didn’t really spend much time reading either. In fact, I didn’t even finish the book I’m reading, but I’m trying to force myself to spend the last half hour before lights out reading at night now. I’ve had success over the past few days, and I’m hoping this change will help with reading more. The stack on the nightstand gets higher as the year goes on.
The only book I worked through in September was Vendetta in Death, #49 in the In Death series by J.D. Robb. That was the book series I read all 47 of last year. My reading last year was so much higher than this year.
That’s okay, because I’m hoping to get more reading done this month. I’d like to do a book a week and cut through this stack of books.

So what’s up next? She Said, which is from the journalists who broke the Harvey Weinstein case. There are similar themes in Justice and Lies, so I’d like to read this book before going back to Cassie, just to get a better understanding of what happened in the lead-up. I’ve been very fortunate to never experience something like sexual assault or domestic abuse, so I want to do my research to portray the subject accurately and in a respectful manner to those who have experienced that.
Other books on my list include Little Fires Everywhere, Where the Crawdads Sing and Whisper Network.
Tell me, what is on your list for October?
