June 2026 Goals
This year has just been an adventure, and not in the fun kind. As I write this, I’m currently getting over some kind of infection. It started out as a sinus infection and moved into my lungs which resulted in extreme coughing fits, that still aren’t totally gone.
I had hopes that May would be a great month, since it was the start of the summer months (in my mind) and I had some fun weekend trips planned. I spent last week dog-sitting for my parents and had originally planned to spend the week brainstorming, outlining, plotting my book series. But then the sinus infection came, it wrecked my body and we did none of that. So after I got home this past weekend, I had to take a long look at what I think is possible for the month of June.
June marks the end of the first half of the year and I won’t rehash it all out, but this year has absolutely sucked. I need a win, a big win, and I think that comes in one of two ways: a new job or actually plotting out this entire series.
So, we’ll see what happens but I share my goals to try and be transparent and show what it’s like to try and be an indie author on top of having a full time job, a life, a partner, family events. And while if it was up to me, I’d just be writing all day, the truth is, that’s not possible right now. I have to balance it with everything else.

June Goals
Writing Goals
- plot out book two
- plot out book three
- plot out book four
- plot out book five
And when I say plot out, I’m not outlining every book chapter by chapter. My focus this go around is to plot out the high level points of the entire series, tie together how an event from book two will impact book five.
After that, I’ll outline book two but I still want to be open to the magic of stumbling into an idea as I draft. I want to know where all my characters end up, but I still want to be surprised on how they get there. I think there’s wonder in letting your imagination have fun.
I want to brainstorm/plan every day, at least a little bit. I even bought new notebooks to plan out this entire series.
In addition to that, I’ll be doing HB90 again in the middle of the month to plan out Quarter 3. After the year I’ve had, maybe planning out an entire quarter is a bad idea, but I can’t help it.
Reading Goals
I’ve already read an entire book this month (I read the whole thing at the pool yesterday), so I’m hoping that will carry me forward as I have eleven other books I want to focus on this month.
I also need to update my Storygraph account, I think the last time I did that was in March? I’m not even sure. In addition to that, I’m selling a bunch of books on Pango, if you want to shop some lightly used (mostly) books.
Life Goals
Outside of writing and reading, I do have life. I do have things I want to do outside of writing.
Mainly find a new job. And then give myself a week off between current job and new job. A girl can dream, right?
I want to be focusing on my body. I’ve now been sick twice this year and my body is just so exhausted.
I want to get back to moving it again, try to build up some strength, stretch, work out on a regular basis. But do it slowly, because I need it to be sustainable. I’m tracking a few things this month, like what I eat, when I drink, when I work out. I’ll start a workout/health journal next month, too.
As someone who has been burnt out for a long time, and is now feeling the physical effects on my body, I have to be patient and careful with how I pull myself out of this.
