The Ginger's Blog Tips: Good Content

Good content is so important to bringing traffic in to your blog. Traffic = people following you, and the possibility to make some money blogging, and who doesn’t want to make money doing what they love? (to read more in-depth about this topic, read here and here).

In order to keep people on your site, you need good content, but what classifies as "good content?"

Either way you shake it, design is what keeps people on your blog because it’s pretty, but content is what keeps people on your blog because they’re dying to know more. So what qualifies as good content? Well, something that makes people want to know more. Write about a current event, or write a tutorial. Write content that will help people, that will inform them.

To gain readership on your blog, you need to have good content, but what exactly does that mean? #blogging Click To Tweet

I hate to throw mommy bloggers under the bus, but good content does not mean showing twenty pictures of your kid. That may work for your family and friends, but no one else. If you want to find a way to engage a greater audience. If you need to share pictures of your little darling, do a tutorial or write a post about a controversial topic and how it effects you (i.e. – breastfeeding). You don’t have to be controversial in writing about a controversial topic. The point is, you need to have something that will bring people in.

Now, don’t get me wrong, you can still write all those posts with baby pictures, but you have to realize you won’t build a big blog audience that way. Same with college kids – write posts to help other college kids, like the one I did here, don’t write about how you had so much fun at the bar the other night.

People are naturally interested in other people’s lives, but there has to be something to entice them into staying. Remember, if you wouldn’t want to read about something on someone else’s blog (That’s in your niche), why would someone want to read it on your’s?

Are there any types of posts that you write to push yourself for good content?
