March Goals

March is already here and I’m a little stunned by how fast February actually went. I made two trips home for two weekends and that definitely ate away at my month. As much as I love my family, little work gets done while I’m with them! February saw a lot of brainstorming for the blog and a lot of fictional work for Laura Teagan.
March 2017 Goals
Besides that, I’m into this routine that I’ve become fiercely protective of, which I know I’ll have to give up when I go work full time. I work part time now, and my mornings are when I work. The afternoons are where I get to unleash my creativity and feel alive. Losing a job can be so stressful (apparently that stress can stay with you for two years, even after you find a new job), so this time I spend working on my books gives me a little peace of mind. When you can’t control the job market, it’s nice to be able to control the words in my fiction.

That being said, with a routine, I’m also excited for the next few months for the blog. I’ll be rolling out some cool things and next month, I’ll change my whole editorial calendar process. I’m super excited for that, but before I break down goals for this month, let’s look at last month’s.

CAREER:

-apply to two jobs every day
-land three interviews a week
-get a full-time job.
-resume website? Meh.

THE BOOK:

-start Hit List
finalized Hit List’s cover

OTHER LAURA TEAGAN STUFF:

-build up my newsletter subscribers
-write some content for the website
-send out a monthly update (I already did this yesterday)
-get some kind of social media schedule for Laura Teagan. She’s been particularly lazy about this lately (yes, I know I’m referring to my pen name in third person, just roll with it)

BLOG

-plan Q2
-start working on an e-course (Need to decide which I want to do)
-launch my freebie opt-in series
-write all of February’s posts in a week
-write all of March’s posts in a week
-revamp social media schedule

PERSONAL

-organize your “!toFile” inbox in Evernote
-scan documents you need to get into Evernote
-keep waking up earlier to go to the gym
-keep going to the gym
-keep inputting food information into My Fitness Pal
Wow, I got really lazy on these goals, obviously. I’ve decided that I’m not doing a resume website (I mean, who really wants to remember how to spell my last name), and the job process is still plugging along. Not a lot of news on that front.
For books, I did start on Hit List, but I also started on a new project! I’ve wanted to do a short story prequel for the series for a while now and I started that right around the same time I started Hit List. The short story doesn’t have a name, but I’m loving it. It’s a weird dichotomy to go back and forth between a main character who is young and a little naive (but doesn’t know it) to a main character who’s got some wear and tear on her and a temper for learning that people are hiding things from her.
I switch my writing time between the short story and  Hit List, clocking in about 500 words on each piece a day. I enforced a rule on myself that every day, I had to write these 1000 words before I could work on anything blog related, and while it’s great for my fiction, it’s not so great for my blog.
Either way, this month has a lot in store (and behind the scenes) in all aspects of my life. So what’s on the list?

Career

I think we all know these by now

The book and short story:

-Finish short story draft by Wednesday the 8th.
-Finish the first draft of Hit List by the end of the month
Hit List’s cover
-begin planning Justice & Lies edits

Other laura teagan things:

-build up the email list
-brainstorm some more content
-keep working on that social media schedule

blog:

-write all the March content this weekend
-restructure social media schedule
-work on the super secret project
-launch a new email series
-figure out Q2 goals and posts
