Quarter Four 2026

Quarter Four looks so different than I thought it would when I started the year. I was thinking by now, I’d be elbow-deep in final edits for my next book, And She Hunts, to come out. I thought I’d be teasing y’all with snippets and a new book cover.

However, to be completely, honest, I don’t even have a first draft of that book completed, and it surely isn’t coming out this quarter. I’ve tinkered with several ideas of what this book will be and how it will tie into the rest of the series, and I just haven’t figure it out yet.

I thought I’d be in a new job, I thought I’d be planning to celebrate birthdays and holidays (and I still will), but they’ll be tinged with a bit of sadness that this year has just brought into life. Most years have big events that happen, and especially in the last few years, those big events have all been tied to my day job. I still hope there is a day in the future where my full-time, day job is writing books.

But there is still a lot to do before I get there. Every quarter is supposed to be a step toward that life – more books, more marketing, more reads. The quarters this year have not been a step that way – and with changes in my personal life, I feel farther away from my life goals and dreams than I have in a long time.

I think there’s a time and place to let yourself feel the grief and depression, before you have to just force yourself out of that and make yourself get to work. I’m at that moment and it’s time to brush out my hair (and get it cut, honestly), put my walking shoes back on and get to work. Quarter four is usually the funnest and busiest time of the year

So, there is plenty to do and not a lot of time to do it, but I’m hoping if I can stay focused day-to-day and just push myself forward after months of just existing.

• complete the Book of the Month annual challenge

Other goals

• find a new job
• do something fun for my birthday
• go to Bryan/College Station for a fundraising walk
• get some digital organizing done
• plan out goals for 2027

90ish days to get a lot done, here’s to hoping we get them all done.
