September Goals

September Goals

August was a rough month, both personally and professionally, but mostly professionally. August was the fifth full month of work from home and the longer this goes on, the more I feel the loneliness seep into my bones past the point of return.

September Goals

I did go up to visit my parents this weekend, and my brother, but my two youngest siblings are off at college (for now) so even visiting home felt a little weird. It didn’t feel the same. My siblings weren’t home and I ended up spending the weekend sleeping in my brother’s room and bed (which were actually handme downs from me – it was my bedroom when my parents first bought the house and my bed as a part of a bunk bed).

At work, I pride myself on being able to put up with the never ending changes. In my personal life, I dread them.

About halfway through the month, my lead and I had a good heart to hear about how I was feeling drained and unmotivated both in my work and in my life. He gave me a good kick in the pants to get me going at work and that extra motivation at work finally kicked into my personal life.

If there is one goal I continue to at least hit this year, it’s reading. I love being able to curl up on the couch or in bed and read for a few hours. I know I’ve talked about it before, but one of the things that has gotten me through this year is being able to escape into a fictional world. I’m feeling ambitious with my reading this month though.

Another thing I think I’m finally ready to get back into is writing. After that weird finger injury and the fact I didn’t know how the book was going to end. Finally while I was on vacation at my parents’ house, I got the outline for Hit List finally finished. 23 pages and I can’t wait to finally have this first draft done.

Read all the books is kind of my life motto lately. I may not do much but I’m really hoping when it gets a little cooler (because it’s been 100+ bazillion degrees in August and I seriously can’t stop sweating), I’ll be able to go back on my patio where I’ve done so much creative work this year. It’s just so damn hot right now.
