The Book Comes First

It’s been three weeks since I posted here, but that’s okay. The truth is, between school and work and editing, life has been crazy. Edits on The Assassin have been going great, and as I get closer to the release date (which I’ll be announcing very soon), I’m thinking more and more about the release and all that it entails.

Last week on Ginger & Co., I wrote about balancing life, and how sometimes, it’s okay to suck at it. With this new semester, I’ve been sucking at it a lot, but that’s okay. I’m having a wonderful semester. Balancing everything isn’t always a priority.
But what is a priority is the book. When you’re a writer, you have to make your book a priority. If you plan to make a career out of it, you need to be dedicated to it, every day. Okay, maybe not every day, but the more days you focus on your book, the better.
When I was younger, I didn’t consider writing as something serious in my life. I didn’t even consider writing a passion (oh, how I was wrong). Now, this is what I want to do with my life. Yes, I want to work in public relations, but I’m already planning my retirement from the corporate world.
This book comes first, that’s an important thing to remember. To be successful in writing, you have to make your book a priority.
So, if I disappear again, it’s because I’m working on finishing this book. Yes, the blog is important, but the book comes first.
